Trip Profile
This trip will be carried out in two phases. The first phase starts from Gaurikund and passes through the spiritual heartland of the subcontinent taking a very old pilgrim route from Kedarnath (the site of ancient Kedarnath temple) to the source of holy Ganges river Gangotri. You continue the trek from Sonprayag through Panwalikanta to Buddha Kedar while ascending and descending through picturesque villages, terraced fields and alpine meadows. You finally descend to the Malla road head, completing the first phase of your trek and from here you are transferred by road to Gangotri - the most scenic pilgrimage site in the Garhwal Himalayas.

The second phase of the trek starts by walking through the lush rhododendron forests and alpine pastures to visit Gaumukh (meaning cow snout). It is here that the Ganges River gushes out from the glacier snout overlooked by Shivling (6,543m), a majestic spire of rock and ice, after crossing the rubble strewn glacier slopes that lead to the vast meadow at Tapovan. After spending a couple of nights in this fabulous location and excursions to the nearby Kedar Dome and Meru glacier, retrace your steps to Gangotri and drive back to Delhi via Uttarkashi, Rishikesh and the magnificent pilgrimage town of Haridwar.
