Equinox Travel Adventures operates through its Indian affiliate which is approved by the Indian Mountaineering Federation (IMF) and has handled more than 80 expeditions in the last 15 years. Mountain climbing in India requires written permission from the Government of India through the IMF. Expeditions from overseas are also obliged to pay a peak royalty (the amount depends on the peak’s height) and a liaison officer is assigned to each trip. The best climbing season in India is from April to the end of October except for some areas like Garhwal and Kulu valley, which are effected by the rainy season in July and August.
We can help you with the extensive pre-trip information, planning, routes, maps technical or any other details you may require. Once you have decided to go ahead with the expedition we will organize all official formalities which include seeking permissions, booking of peak, government clearance and all other logistic details. We also provide complete handling arrangements from airport transfers to hotel accommodation, transport, high and low altitude porters, mules, camping staff, food, cooks and good quality camping and kitchen gear.
Please plan your trips with a gestation period of three to four months to process the permits and other official formalities. For some popular peaks (averaging above 7,000 meters) booking is done up to two years in advance.
